Pakistan and Wales played out an exciting 3-3 draw in their Pool D clash at the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026 on Monday.

The match produced plenty of attacking hockey, with both teams refusing to give up as the momentum shifted throughout the contest. The result gave Pakistan and Wales a point each.

Pakistan Fight Back in Entertaining Contest

Pakistan entered the match looking for a strong response after their opening Pool D defeat to England.

The Green Shirts showed greater attacking intent and created opportunities throughout the game. Wales, however, remained competitive and continued to put pressure on the Pakistani defence.

The two sides traded goals in an open contest, keeping the result uncertain until the final stages.

Wales Keep Pakistan Under Pressure

Wales produced a determined performance and refused to allow Pakistan to control the match for long periods.

Their attacking moves created problems for Pakistan, while their defensive organisation helped them stay in contention.

The Welsh side eventually secured the draw after a tense finish, earning an important point from the encounter.

What the Result Means

The 3-3 draw leaves both teams still searching for their first victory of the tournament.

Pakistan and Wales are competing in Pool D, alongside England and India. The 2026 Men’s Hockey World Cup is being jointly hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium from August 15 to August 30.

Pakistan’s next major challenge will be against India, while Wales will face England in their next Pool D fixture.

A Valuable Point for Both Teams

Although neither side managed to secure all three points, the six-goal thriller provided an important boost for both teams.

For Pakistan, the draw offers an opportunity to build momentum ahead of their remaining pool matches. Wales can also take confidence from their ability to compete against a strong Pakistani side.

With the Pool D race still open, every point could prove crucial as the tournament moves toward the knockout stages
