RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s air defense systems intercepted and destroyed three drones and two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi militia, according to the spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition for Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Malki.
Al-Malki said on Tuesday that Saudi defense systems intercepted and destroyed three drones north of Riyadh, preventing them from reaching their intended targets.
He further stated that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward the Saudi city of Dhahran was also intercepted and destroyed.
According to the spokesperson, fragments from the missile fell into a residential area during the interception. Authorities subsequently launched operations at the location to assess the situation and address the impact of the falling debris.
Al-Malki also confirmed that another ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Haradh was intercepted and destroyed.
The latest interceptions highlight continued security concerns linked to missile and drone attacks in the region, while Saudi authorities remain focused on protecting population centers and critical infrastructure.
