Islamabad: Ameerul Azeem, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and one of the country’s most respected political and religious leaders, has passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Ameerul Azeem was regarded as one of the key pillars of Jamaat-e-Islami’s central leadership. As Secretary General, he played a pivotal role in managing the party’s organizational affairs, formulating political strategy, training party workers, and strengthening the party’s nationwide structure.

Known for his simplicity, principled leadership, intellectual depth, and exceptional organizational skills, he earned widespread respect across the party and maintained a close relationship with workers at every level.

His journey in the Islamic movement began during his student years with Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba. He served as Nazim of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Lahore before being elected Nazim-e-Ala (National President) of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Pakistan. During his student leadership, he was also elected President of the Punjab University Students’ Union.

After completing his student political career, Ameerul Azeem held several key positions within Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, including Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Secretary of Information, and twice serving as the party’s Secretary General.

Throughout his life, he remained committed to the cause of Islam, the establishment of an Islamic social order, democratic struggle, and the supremacy of Pakistan’s Constitution and rule of law.
