RAWALPINDI (APP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Friday visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counter-terrorism operations and measures being taken to strengthen border management.
The briefing also covered the operational preparedness of formations deployed across the province, according to a news release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Field Marshal Asim Munir commended the high morale and professionalism of officers and troops and directed them to maintain vigilance and the highest standards of operational readiness to effectively counter security threats.
The COAS and CDF reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue its campaign against what he described as Indian-sponsored terrorist outfits, stressing that security forces would pursue these threats with full determination.
While paying tribute to the sacrifices of the people of Pakistan, including the Shuhada and Ghazis of the security forces, the army chief said the nation’s support would remain central to the fight against terrorism.
He expressed confidence that with the continued support of the people, Pakistan would defeat terrorists and their ideology.
The visit also provided an opportunity to review the operational environment in the province, including counter-terrorism efforts and border security measures.
Earlier, upon his arrival at Corps Headquarters Peshawar, the COAS and CDF was received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
