Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem missed out on a podium finish at the Commonwealth Games, while Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage produced a sensational performance to win the gold medal in the men’s javelin final.

Pathirage delivered the best throw of the competition, reaching 89.75 metres to secure Sri Lanka’s first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in men’s javelin. His outstanding effort left the rest of the field chasing throughout the event.

India also enjoyed a strong showing in the final. Neeraj Chopra claimed the silver medal with a best throw of 85.83 metres, while compatriot Yash Vir Singh took bronze after recording 85.41 metres.

Arshad Nadeem entered the competition as one of the biggest names in world athletics following his recent international success. However, the Pakistani star was unable to find his best rhythm and finished outside the medal positions despite a determined effort.

Although the result was disappointing for Pakistan, Arshad remains one of the country’s greatest athletes. His achievements on the global stage have transformed javelin’s popularity in Pakistan and inspired countless young athletes to pursue the sport.

Meanwhile, Pathirage’s victory marked a historic moment for Sri Lankan athletics. His winning throw not only earned him the Commonwealth title but also established him as one of the leading javelin throwers in the region.

The competition showcased the growing standard of men’s javelin across Asia, with athletes from Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan competing at an exceptionally high level.

For Arshad Nadeem, the focus will now shift to upcoming international events. Fans across Pakistan will be hoping the Olympic champion bounces back quickly and returns to the podium in future competitions.

Despite the setback, Arshad’s legacy as one of Pakistan’s finest athletes remains firmly intact. Every champion faces difficult days, and supporters will be eager to see him come back stronger in his next appearance.
