Spanish authorities have confirmed that 12 of the 13 people killed in a devastating wildfire in the southern region of Andalusia were foreign nationals following the completion of post-mortem examinations.

The deadly blaze swept through parts of Andalusia, leaving widespread destruction and prompting a major emergency response as firefighters battled to contain the fast-moving flames.

Officials said the identities and nationalities of the victims have now been established, with the majority being foreign citizens. Authorities have not yet released further details as efforts continue to notify the victims’ families.

The wildfire is among the deadliest to hit Spain in recent years, highlighting the growing threat posed by increasingly intense heatwaves and prolonged dry conditions.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, while emergency services continue to assess the damage and support affected communities
