RAWALPINDI, August 4: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), visited the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters on Tuesday to review Pakistan’s disaster preparedness and coordinated response arrangements for the ongoing monsoon season.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chairman NDMA briefed the COAS & CDF on the operational capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Centre and its technology-enabled response mechanisms. The briefing also featured “Disaster Lens 2026,” an advanced monitoring platform providing real-time updates on the prevailing monsoon situation and multi-hazard risk assessment across the country.
Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated NDMA’s efforts to enhance Pakistan’s national disaster management capacity and stressed the importance of maintaining a high level of operational readiness, effective inter-agency coordination and a swift response to protect lives, livelihoods and critical infrastructure during the monsoon season.
He reaffirmed that the Armed Forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared to support the civil administration and NDMA in relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations whenever required.
The visit reflects the continued coordination between Pakistan’s armed forces and civilian disaster management authorities to strengthen preparedness and ensure an effective response to weather-related emergencies across the country.
