TEHRAN (International Desk): Iran has offered to help facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen as tensions in the region continue to escalate, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warning that further reliance on military action could deepen existing crises.

Araghchi made the offer during a telephone conversation late Sunday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, according to statements shared by the Iranian foreign minister and Iran’s official news agency (IRNA).

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide any assistance to help begin dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and to assist in reaching a political solution,” Araghchi said.

The conversation marks the first publicly reported contact between the two foreign ministers since tensions involving Saudi Arabia and the Iran-aligned Houthis intensified.

Iran Warns Against Military Approach

During the call, Araghchi expressed concern over the escalating situation and argued that military measures would make efforts to resolve regional disputes more difficult.

He stressed that continued reliance on military action while overlooking political solutions could further complicate the situation, emphasizing that the region’s ongoing crises cannot be resolved through military means alone.

Iran’s proposal comes amid heightened regional tensions and renewed calls for diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.

Saudi Arabia Confirms Foreign Ministers’ Call

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Araghchi initiated the telephone conversation.

According to the Saudi statement, the two ministers discussed the recent escalation in the region and ongoing efforts aimed at addressing the situation. Riyadh did not provide additional details about Iran’s proposal for facilitating dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Regional Tensions Continue

The diplomatic outreach comes as the security situation surrounding Saudi Arabia remains tense.

According to figures cited by Türkiye’s state-run Anadolu Agency, 10 attacks were reported against five Saudi airports between October 5 and 11, resulting in 20 deaths.

The developments have added to concerns over the widening impact of regional conflicts and the potential for further escalation.

Iran’s latest diplomatic offer could provide another channel for dialogue if accepted by the parties involved. However, any progress is likely to depend on broader regional negotiations and the willingness of the concerned sides to pursue a political settlement.

With tensions continuing to rise, Tehran is positioning diplomacy as an alternative to further military confrontation, while regional governments face increasing pressure to prevent the crisis from spreading further.
