ISLAMABAD: FIFA has released its latest men’s world rankings following the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup, with newly crowned world champions Spain climbing to the top of the standings.
Spain moved up one place to overtake Argentina, who slipped to second after finishing as World Cup runners-up.
France retained third place, followed by England in fourth, while Brazil and Morocco each climbed one position to secure fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Meanwhile, Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, dropped two places to seventh in the latest rankings.
One of the biggest movers was Mexico, which surged four places to break into the top ten after an impressive World Cup campaign.
Norway also recorded a significant rise, jumping 12 places to 19th after reaching the World Cup quarter-finals, marking one of the largest improvements in the updated rankings
