BANNU — Security forces have launched a massive, coordinated counter-terrorism campaign in the Bannu district and surrounding regions following a recent surge in attacks targeting law enforcement personnel and civilians, including a deadly vehicle-borne suicide bombing.
According to ISPR press release the intensified operations were triggered by a string of heinous attacks carried out by the Fitna Al-Khwarij, which has targeted both security agencies and innocent citizens. In response to this escalation, security forces initiated extensive joint intelligence-based operations aimed at dismantling the terrorists’ support infrastructure and capturing those responsible for the violence.
During the last twenty-four hours, these operations culminated in fierce fire exchanges between security forces and members of the militant group. According to ISPR, twenty-four terrorists belonging to the Indian-proxy Fitna Al-Khwarij were neutralized during the intense clashes. Security forces also successfully recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the site, confirming that the killed individuals were actively involved in multiple acts of terrorism and the killings of innocent civilians.
Officials have stated that these operations are part of a broader, relentless counter-terrorism campaign conducted under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision, as recently approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. The security forces and law enforcement agencies have vowed that the operations will continue at full pace to track down all remaining perpetrators of these cowardly attacks. The stated goal remains the total elimination of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism to ensure peace and stability across the country.
