PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a severe weather alert, forecasting heavy to torrential rains across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting from Friday, July 19, until Tuesday, July 23.
According to the PDMA, strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours are expected in most districts of the province during this period.
The Authority has specifically warned of a high risk of landslides in the mountainous regions, including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
Furthermore, flash flooding and a sudden rise in water levels are anticipated in local nullahs and hill torrents. The PDMA has strongly advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during these days to ensure safety.
There is also a significant possibility of urban flooding in major cities, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, and Abbottabad.
Relevant district administrations have been directed to remain on high alert, take precautionary measures, and ensure the availability of emergency machinery to respond to any untoward incident.
