Beirut – August 1: Israeli forces launched fresh airstrikes across southern Lebanon despite an existing ceasefire, escalating tensions along the border.

Lebanese officials said the strikes damaged homes and infrastructure, with emergency teams responding to affected areas. Casualties and injuries were reported, though authorities had not confirmed the exact figures.

The Israeli military said the operation targeted Hezbollah-linked positions in response to security threats near the border. Lebanon condemned the attacks as a violation of the ceasefire and urged the international community to pressure Israel to halt further military action.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, warning that further escalation could threaten regional stability. The latest strikes have raised fresh concerns over the fragile ceasefire as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent a wider conflict.
