Tehran: Iran has reiterated that dialogue remains the only solution to the Yemen conflict while clarifying that its ongoing discussions with Oman over the management of the Strait of Hormuz are strictly bilateral and focused on maritime safety. Speaking at his weekly press briefing on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the Yemen crisis should be resolved through negotiations among Yemeni parties based on an agreed political roadmap. He rejected allegations linking Iran to recent regional attacks, calling them baseless attempts to distort reality. Baqaei also said talks between Iran and Oman on the management of the Strait of Hormuz are exclusively between the two coastal states and are aimed at determining safe shipping routes through the strategically important waterway. On Ukraine, Baqaei said evidence indicates the reported attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in Russian waters was deliberate despite Kyiv’s assurances, adding that Tehran will pursue accountability.
He further described recent US strikes on civilian sites in Iran as violations of international humanitarian law and denied reports of any upcoming US-Iran negotiations, saying Iran is neither hosting foreign delegations nor planning official visits aboard in the coming days.
Commenting on Gaza, Baqaei condemned Israel’s ongoing military operations, saying civilian casualties continue despite the declared ceasefire and criticizing what he called the international community’s failure to respond.
