KASHMORE: Authorities have declared a moderate-level flood at Guddu Barrage after a continued rise in water levels in the Indus River, while warning that inflows may increase further in the coming hours.
According to the Flood Control Room’s update issued at 6:00 a.m. on July 31, 2026, the Indus River recorded an inflow of 426,103 cusecs and an outflow of 386,860 cusecs at Guddu Barrage, placing the barrage in the moderate flood category.
At Sukkur Barrage, the river’s inflow was recorded at 369,054 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 312,174 cusecs, indicating a low-level flood. Officials cautioned that rising upstream flows could further increase water levels, with flood conditions expected to persist.
Further downstream at Kotri Barrage, the Indus River recorded an inflow of 78,780 cusecs and an outflow of 35,075 cusecs, where water levels remain within the normal range.
Flood monitoring authorities said they are closely tracking the situation as additional water is expected to move downstream over the coming hours. Relevant departments have been directed to remain on alert and continue monitoring river conditions to ensure timely response if water levels rise further.
