Restoration work on highways across Gilgit-Baltistan has been accelerated following severe rainfall, landslides, and mudflows that disrupted traffic in several areas, according to the National Highway Authority (NHA).

The NHA spokesperson said that debris removal and cleaning operations have begun at the bridge on the Gilgit side of the Jaglot–Skardu Road (JSR).

Heavy machinery has been dispatched from Shtut, while landslide clearance is currently underway between Kilometer 25 (Hanuchal) and Kilometer 16 (Ansar Camp) to restore road access.

The spokesperson added that once the route is reopened from Kilometer 25 (Hanuchal), restoration work will begin on the Skardu side at Abutment 2 of the Jaglot–Skardu Road.

Meanwhile, on the Gilgit–Shandur Road (GSR), machinery has been deployed at Kilometer 600+118. The NHA expects the road to be reopened for traffic within the next hour.

Authorities have assured the public that restoration efforts are continuing at full pace to reconnect affected areas and resume the smooth flow of traffic as soon as possible.
