Islamabad: Heavy rains and flash flooding have disrupted traffic on several key highways in northern Pakistan, with landslides and damaged bridges forcing road closures, according to the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The NHA said the Chitral–Garam Chashma Road (N-145) has been blocked by landslides at multiple locations, while emergency teams are working to clear debris and restore traffic as quickly as possible.
On the Dir–Chitral section of the N-45, floodwaters severely damaged the Broze Bridge at Kilometer 296 and another bridge near a PSO fuel station, prompting authorities to suspend all traffic as the route has been declared unsafe.
The NHA said restoration work will begin immediately after floodwaters recede and a detailed assessment is completed.
Meanwhile, the Karakoram Highway (N-35) at Kilometer 660 has been fully reopened for traffic. Authorities have advised local residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve.
