WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said that the United States has no immediate plans to launch an attack on Iran, claiming that Washington is currently in a strong position in its dealings with Tehran.

In an interview with a British publication, Trump said the United States was in a favourable position regarding Iran and suggested that Washington was achieving its objectives.

“Our position is strong. It looks like we’re getting everything we want,” Trump said.

His remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran and growing speculation over the possibility of further military action against Iran.

Trump Says Attack Could Be Launched Within an Hour

Earlier, in an interview with a US television network, Trump was asked about a possible strike on Kharg Island.

Responding to the question, he said such an operation could be carried out “within an hour”, indicating that the United States had the capability to launch a rapid military strike if necessary.

However, his latest comments suggest that Washington is not currently considering an immediate attack.

Trump Describes Previous Strike as Limited Operation

Trump also described the previous night’s attack on Iran as a limited operation, rejecting the suggestion that it should be considered the beginning of a wider war.

He said the United States was continuously monitoring Iran’s nuclear facilities and keeping a close watch on developments surrounding the country’s nuclear programme.

The president’s comments indicate that Washington intends to maintain pressure on Tehran while closely monitoring its nuclear activities.

Trump Criticises Daily Mail Report as Fake News

Separately, Trump strongly criticised a report published by the British newspaper Daily Mail, dismissing its claims as fake news.

His latest statements come as uncertainty continues over the future of US-Iran relations, with military threats, diplomatic pressure and concerns over regional escalation remaining central to the situation.

Despite ruling out an immediate attack, Trump’s remarks about the possibility of a strike within an hour underline the continuing tensions between the two countries.
