KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday inaugurated 49 modern digital classrooms for special children, 20 satellite schools and a sign language teachers’ training program in Karachi.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to providing quality education to every child, regardless of ability or geographical location. He said modern technology would improve the educational experience of special children.
He said about 20,000 students are currently studying in 67 special institutions across Sindh. According to him, these institutions provide free education, rehabilitation services, physiotherapy, speech therapy, transport and nutrition. Students also receive a monthly stipend of Rs3,000.
After attending the ceremony together with special children, the Chief Minister visited the newly set up digital classrooms and other facilities. He also met the children and spent time with them.
The initiatives are aimed at widening access to quality education for special children, including those living far from major institutions, through satellite schools and technology-based learning. The sign language teachers’ training program is meant to build the skills of educators working with hearing-impaired students.
