Passengers say the availability of modern bus services has made travel safer, faster, and more comfortable than in previous years.
Beyond passenger transport, Rahim Yar Khan’s goods transport network has become a key contributor to the national economy. Hundreds of freight vehicles transport agricultural produce, including cotton, wheat, mangoes, dates, fertilizers, and industrial goods to markets across the country every day. Local traders say improved transport connectivity has significantly boosted commercial activity.
Residents describe the General Bus Stand as a landmark of the city but believe further upgrades are needed. They have urged authorities to expand waiting areas, establish modern information desks, improve parking facilities, enhance cleanliness, and introduce a digital ticketing system to provide passengers with better services.
Economic analysts say Rahim Yar Khan is well-positioned to become South Punjab’s leading logistics and transportation hub due to its strategic location on the national highway network, railway connectivity, and the presence of Sheikh Zayed International Airport. They believe that greater investment in modern transport infrastructure by both the public and private sectors could further strengthen the city’s role in Pakistan’s trade and logistics network.
