PHILADELPHIA: Lionel Messi delivered another memorable performance for Inter Miami, scoring a goal and providing an assist as his team drew 2-2 with Philadelphia Union in an intense MLS encounter on Wednesday night.

Messi created Miami’s opening goal in the 21st minute when his cross helped set up Daniel Pinter, who finished the move to put Inter Miami ahead. Philadelphia responded, but Messi continued to influence the match.

Just minutes later, Messi produced a moment of individual brilliance. The Argentine forward received the ball near the edge of the penalty area and curled a left-footed shot beyond goalkeeper Andre Blake to give Miami a *2-1 lead. It was Messi’s *13th MLS goal of the season.

Philadelphia eventually found an equalizer, and the match finished 2-2. The result ended Inter Miami’s three-game losing streak and gave the club an important point on the road.

The performance was particularly emotional for Messi. It was his first goal since the death of his father, Jorge Messi, who passed away on August 8 at the age of 68. Messi returned to action despite the personal loss and showed his quality and determination on the field.

The draw also demonstrated Messi’s continuing importance to Inter Miami. With a goal and an assist, the 39-year-old captain once again played a decisive role in his team’s attack.

Although Inter Miami could not secure all three points, Messi’s performance provided encouragement for the club as it looks to regain momentum in the MLS season.

Final Score: Philadelphia Union 2–2 Inter Miami

Messi: 1 goal, 1 assist.
