What began as the case of a young girl’s tragic death in Kot Samaba, Rahim Yar Khan, has evolved into one of the region’s most complex and closely watched investigations, involving allegations of police torture, a murder case against police officials, the recovery of another body, and multiple families still seeking justice.
The case first came to light several weeks ago when a woman raised serious allegations concerning her minor daughter. Police registered cases, made several arrests, and the incident quickly became the focus of public attention across the district. Later, a kidnapping case involving the same child was registered, and days afterward, the young girl’s body was recovered, leaving the entire community in shock and mourning.
As investigators continued their work, the case took another dramatic turn. While authorities pursued inquiries into the child’s alleged kidnapping and murder, a local resident, Muhammad Amjad, who had reportedly been following the legal proceedings related to the case, unexpectedly became the center of a separate investigation.
According to his family, Muhammad Amjad was called in by police for questioning but never returned home. His relatives allege that he was kept in unlawful custody and subjected to torture. A criminal case has since been registered against police officials, including charges of murder and abduction.
The controversy deepened further when Muhammad Amjad’s body was recovered from agricultural fields near Sadiqabad. Police maintain that the body was recovered following information provided by suspects and insist that the investigation is being conducted transparently.
The developments have raised several critical questions. Have all the facts surrounding the minor girl’s alleged kidnapping and murder been uncovered? Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police, directing that any police official found responsible should face legal action. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Irfan Ali Samo has stated that the investigation is being carried out with complete transparency and that no one is above the law.
In the latest development, former Station House Officer Syed Naqqash Shah, the prime suspect in Muhammad Amjad’s murder case, was produced before a court under tight security. The court granted further physical remand to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
The Kot Samaba case has now become more than a criminal investigation. It has evolved into a broader search for truth and justice. With every new development, fresh questions emerge, while the affected families continue to wait for answers and hope that the legal process will ultimately establish the facts and deliver justice.
