TEHRAN — Iran’s Army announced it executed a drone strike against the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, targeting critical infrastructure at the installation used by the United States military.

According to a statement released by the Public Relations Department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, the operation—designated as Phase 26 of “Operation Thunder”—utilized advanced attack drones to hit power generators, navigation systems, and administrative facilities at the base.

Iranian officials stated the strike was carried out in response to the death of Brigadier General Majid Kazemi, an Iranian Su-24 pilot killed in a previous military engagement. Tehran cited Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which addresses the right to self-defense, as the legal justification for the action.

“Despite the presence of multiple advanced defense systems and heavy fortification, recent and ongoing attacks on US bases in the region have inflicted significant damage on the equipment and facilities of the US military,” the Iranian Army statement claimed.

Sheikh Isa Air Base, located in southern Bahrain, serves as a key operational hub for US military activities in the Persian Gulf region, housing reconnaissance aircraft as well as logistics and maintenance centers for helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

US defense authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming the extent of the damage or casualties resulting from the reported strike.
