ALI PUR:The water level at Head Panjnad in Ali Pur has started to recede after rising significantly over the past few days. The declining river flow has brought relief to residents who feared possible flooding in nearby areas.
Water Flow Declines at Head Panjnad
According to local authorities, the water flow at Head Panjnad had reached 150,000 cusecs. However, it has now dropped to 134,622 cusecs, showing a clear improvement in the flood situation. Officials continue to monitor the river closely as the monsoon season continues.
No Loss of Life or Property Reported
The recent rise in water discharge caused a limited amount of floodwater to enter settlements near Head Panjnad. However, authorities confirmed that no loss of life or property occurred. They added that the situation remained under control throughout the period.
Barrage Has Capacity to Handle Current Flow
Officials said the Head Panjnad Barrage can safely handle up to 866,000 cusecs of water. Since the current flow is far below that limit, the barrage continues to manage the water discharge without any major risk.
Residents Remember Last Year’s Devastating Floods
Many residents recalled the severe floods that struck the area last year. At that time, nearly 800,000 cusecs of water passed through the barrage. As a result, floodwaters submerged almost 90 percent of Ali Pur, damaging homes, farmland, and public infrastructure.
Authorities Remain Alert During Monsoon Season
The recent increase in water levels raised fresh concerns among people living in low-lying areas. However, the steady decline in river flow has eased public fears. Meanwhile, authorities remain vigilant and continue monitoring the situation to respond quickly if water levels rise again during the ongoing monsoon season.
