BRUSSELS — As Europe faces escalating pressures on democracy, technological sovereignty, and social cohesion, leaders, educators, and policymakers are gathering in Brussels for Creative Skills Week 2026. The event aims to reframe how the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI) can drive cross-sector transformation across the continent.

At the core of this year’s summit is “creative confidence”—the capacity to turn creative thinking into direct action by bridging conventional gaps between disparate fields of expertise. Organizers emphasize that embedding creative skills into organizational strategy enables institutions to prototype new solutions, foster inclusive collaboration, and adapt to an era of rapid technological and political change.

While creative skills are anchored in cultural traditions, speakers at the event highlighted their growing necessity far beyond traditional artistic domains. Today, creative problem-solving is actively transforming fields such as digital governance, healthcare systems, human resources, and data-driven management.

Strategic Alliances and Key Milestones
Moving past internal industry discussions, the 2026 program focuses on building strategic alliances across European policy and practice domains. Attendees are participating in high-level debates, examining case studies, and viewing cross-sector showcases designed to demonstrate how creative agency can connect ecosystems and reframe complex public challenges.

This edition also serves as a key milestone for the co-organizing CYANOTYPES project. The conference is staging real-life pilot implementations of the CYANOTYPES Framework while presenting new policy recommendations to European decision-makers.

Creative Skills Week 2026 is co-organized by EIT Culture and Creativity, CYANOTYPES, and the Creative Futures Academy, in collaboration with the Creative Pact for Skills, CREDEX, and the GreenCCIrcle project. Curated by ELIA, the gathering is co-hosted by ICHEC Brussels Management School and LUCA School of Arts, and is recognized as an Associated Event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.
