Chelsea produced a sensational attacking display at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, cruising to a 5–1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League.
The Blues responded emphatically after their defeat to Brentford before the international break, scoring twice inside the opening three minutes and never allowing Bournemouth to settle.
Henderson Sets Chelsea on Their Way
Chelsea needed just 65 seconds to open the scoring.
Jordan Henderson marked his home debut with a stunning finish, curling the ball into the net via the post after being set up by Cole Palmer.
The veteran midfielder then turned provider moments later, helping Morgan Rogers score Chelsea’s second in the third minute.
The rapid start gave Chelsea a 2–0 lead after only 2 minutes and 29 seconds — the earliest the club had ever established a two-goal advantage in a Premier League match.
João Pedro Extends the Lead
Chelsea maintained control after the break and quickly added a third.
João Pedro found the net just after the restart, finishing a well-worked move involving Pedro Neto to make it 3–0.
Bournemouth briefly threatened a comeback when Evanilson pulled one back in the 51st minute, but Chelsea quickly regained control.
João Pedro and Henderson Complete the Rout
João Pedro restored Chelsea’s three-goal advantage in the 67th minute, scoring his second of the afternoon.
Henderson then completed his own brace in spectacular fashion, curling a 25-yard free-kick beyond Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic to make it 5–1.
The result completed a dominant afternoon for Xabi Alonso’s side.
Chelsea Bounce Back in Style
The victory gives Chelsea a major confidence boost after a difficult spell of results.
The return of Moises Caicedo to the starting XI was also significant, with Alonso praising the midfielder’s impact after his recovery from injury. Chelsea also handed Marco Palestra his competitive debut.
Despite the impressive victory, Chelsea were unable to keep a clean sheet for a 22nd consecutive Premier League match, with Evanilson’s goal providing the only blemish on an otherwise dominant performance.
For Bournemouth, the defeat extended their difficult start under Marco Rose, with the Cherries still searching for their first Premier League win of the campaign.
