Glasgow: Pakistan’s boxing hopes received a massive boost at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as Fatima Zahra secured a place in the women’s 60kg semi-finals, guaranteeing the country its first Commonwealth Games boxing medal in 12 years.

Fatima delivered a commanding performance in the quarter-final, defeating New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson by a unanimous 5-0 decision. The Pakistani boxer controlled the contest with sharp combinations, disciplined defence, and impressive composure to earn a convincing victory and book her place among the tournament’s final four.
By reaching the semi-finals, Fatima has ensured Pakistan will return home with at least a bronze medal, as losing semi-finalists in Commonwealth Games boxing are awarded bronze medals. The achievement marks Pakistan’s first boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games since 2014, ending a 12-year wait and signaling a promising revival for the country’s boxing program on the international stage. Muhammad Waseem represented Pakistan in 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Waseem became the only player of Pakistan’s Boxing team who qualified for the final for Flyweight category. He became the silver medalist after a close fight with Moloney from Australia.
Her historic achievement has been celebrated by fans and sports officials alike, who view her success as a major milestone for women’s boxing in Pakistan. Fatima’s remarkable run has also inspired a new generation of athletes, proving that Pakistani boxers can compete with the best on one of the world’s biggest multi-sport stages.
With a guaranteed medal already secured, Fatima Zahra will now set her sights on the semi-final, where victory would send her into the gold-medal bout and give Pakistan the opportunity to claim its first Commonwealth boxing gold in decades.
As the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games continue, all eyes will be on Fatima Zahra as she looks to turn a historic bronze into an even greater triumph for Pakistan
