TEHRAN: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf strongly condemned recent US missile strikes on civilian areas in southern Iran. He warned that Washington would be held accountable and “pay the price” for what he described as attacks on innocent civilians.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Ghalibaf accused the United States of continuing its aggression against Iran. According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, he said the latest strikes were part of a broader pattern of violence.

Ghalibaf Accuses US of Targeting Civilians

Ghalibaf claimed the missile attacks deliberately targeted civilian homes.

“The United States stains its hands with a new crime every day. The terrorist attack on civilian homes on Qeshm Island is a continuation of its crimes in Minab and Lamerd,” he wrote.

He also argued that the US was trying to compensate for military setbacks through attacks on civilians.

“The Americans have become accustomed to making up for the blows they suffer on the battlefield by spilling the blood of innocent people. They will pay the price,” he added.

Missile Strikes Hit Southern Iran

The remarks came after a series of US missile strikes on Thursday. According to Iranian reports, the attacks hit several locations in southern Iran, including Qeshm Island, Bushehr, Fars, and Khuzestan provinces.

Officials said the deadliest strike hit a residential home in the Chah Tangu neighborhood of Qeshm Island.

Family Killed in Qeshm Island Attack

Local authorities reported that three members of the same family were killed in the explosion. The victims included a father, a mother, and one of their children.

Meanwhile, two other children from the family were injured. Emergency teams rushed them to a nearby hospital, where they received medical treatment.

Iran Condemns the Attacks

Iranian officials strongly condemned the strikes. They said the attacks targeted civilian infrastructure and non-combatants.

Furthermore, they argued that such actions violate international law and called for accountability over the reported civilian casualties.
