The cost of poultry and eggs has increased once more in Karachi following a new price notification from the Market Committee.

Updated Official Price List

The government has officially increased the rates for chicken and eggs as follows:

  • Broiler Meat: The price has increased by Rs. 15 per kg, bringing the official rate to Rs. 483 per kg.
  • Live Broiler Chicken: The wholesale price is now Rs. 319 per kg, while the retail price is Rs. 333 per kg.
  • Farm Eggs: The price has risen by Rs. 1 per dozen, setting the new rate at Rs. 234 per dozen.

Concerns Over Overcharging

Despite these set official rates, residents have expressed deep frustration as many retailers continue to ignore government price lists. Shop owners are reportedly selling meat at prices significantly higher than the official ceiling.

Citizens are calling for stricter enforcement, noting that the current pricing policy is largely ineffective because authorities are failing to take action against those engaged in profiteering
