Two police officers were killed and two others were wounded in a bomb attack in the Tank district today.
What happened: The officers were on a routine patrol in an armored vehicle on South Waziristan Road when their vehicle was hit by an explosion near the area of Warna.
The victims:
- Killed: ASI Faridullah and Sepoy Akhtar Zaman died at the scene.
- Injured: Sepoy Abdul Malik and Sepoy Qudratullah were injured and taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Tank along with those who lost their lives.
Police response: The District Police Officer (DPO) of Tank, Abdul Samad Khan, stated that an investigation has been launched. Police have cordoned off the area and are currently conducting a search operation.
Background on Recent Violence This attack follows a similar tragedy that occurred recently in the same district. In that earlier incident, a remote-controlled bomb targeted an armored police vehicle near Gomal Bazar Road. That explosion destroyed the vehicle and killed five police officers, including the Additional SHO of Gomal Police Station, Ishaq Khan.
