Global financial markets witnessed a positive trend following the Democrats’ decisive victory in the US midterm elections, while international crude oil prices dropped below $100 per barrel.
Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, fell by more than 8% on Wednesday afternoon, reaching approximately $95 per barrel. The decline brought oil prices to their lowest level in nearly two months.
The development was accompanied by strong gains in the US stock market, where major indices closed higher following the election results.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded a significant increase of 3%, while the S&P 500 gained 1.6%. The technology-focused Nasdaq Composite also rose by 1.4%.
The market rally reflected positive investor sentiment following the Democrats’ electoral success, while the sharp decline in oil prices marked a significant shift in global energy markets.
The developments highlighted the close relationship between political outcomes, investor confidence and movements in international financial and commodity markets.
